Essay #3 Magicians Nephew

Have you ever had to face a harsh consequence for a rash decision? Well, in the Magician’s Nephew Digory, who is the main character, has to endure the same fate. Digory shouldn’t have struck the bell for three reasons: It would show that he respects polly, he would have to bide the danger, and he might regret it later.


The first reason Digory shouldn’t have struck the bell is because it would show that he respects polly. It would also strengthen their friendship. It would show that the decision is a group effort, not just his, and it would display that they have an equal say in the matter. Lastly, he would be he would be showing that they are both equal and no one is above the other, because in the Magician’s Nephew digory, who eventually strikes the bell, does not consult polly before making the decision.


The second reason digory shouldn’t strike the bell is because he would have to bide the danger. On the side of the pedestal, which held the bell, there was a prophecy and one part which specifically said “strike the bell and bide the danger” which would most likely put both of them in danger. He might not be able to stop the consequences of striking the bell. Also, it could put both of them in danger!


The third reason digory shouldn’t  have struck the bell is because he might regret it later. Well. even though the outcome could be awesome it still could be disappointing and not worth the argument. It could also lead to a sudden and tragic death. He also should way out his options before proceeding in any action because it could create a dangerous situation.


Digory shouldn’t have struck the bell because it would show that respects polly, he would have to bide the danger, he might regret it later.
